Rights and attribution
Every visual or archival object should have a verifiable record of creator, object, source, rights, and permission.
- photographer or creator;
- object or specimen;
- courtesy;
- rights status;
- HOK Asset ID;
- provenance and digitisation source;
- basis for reproduction.
Rights statuses
- public domain;
- House-owned;
- licensed;
- provided with permission;
- reference use only;
- rights review required.
“Old” does not automatically mean public domain. Ownership of an object does not necessarily transfer copyright or a reproduction right.
