Synthetic diamond
A diamond produced by technological growth, most commonly by HPHT or CVD. Crystallographically it is diamond and is not a simulant merely because it is not of natural geological origin. Under the CIBJO Diamond Blue Book 2026-1 (international, voluntary trade standard), “synthetic” is the only descriptor for this material. In the United States, the FTC Jewelry Guides (16 CFR Part 23) also permit qualified terms such as laboratory-grown and laboratory-created (jurisdiction: US).
